Cost does not include the purchase of school books (Class teacher will communicate any book needs and prices) 

Max students : 5 per class/level

No refund for canceling, one make up class offered on Nov 18 if teacher has to cancel a class .

This weekly class is designed for former Colibris students and LPJ grads or young students who speak French at home . The main focus of this literacy class is to encourage French conversation, maintain a fluent level of spoken French and to learn writing and reading basics in a friendly and fun environment.

Class curriculum and objectives :

Practice French speaking during circle time and all games /activities . Express oneself using polite greetings . Learn vocabulary around the theme of the month . Describe pictures using full sentences . Interact with the group in French . Listen to and understand stories (describe main characters, order plot )

Writing and Reading level 1 : Decompose words into syllables. Learn the sounds made by individual letters and by letter combinations (ou / on / an / au / in etc…)

Writing and Reading level 2 : Review the sounds of Colibri level 1. Learn complex sounds : oin , ien , g/ gu , s , ss  and later ail , eil , ouil , oeil ….

Read sentences and short texts (level 2) .

Answer questions about the story (discuss or write in exercise book)

Memorize «  sight » words - varies by class level ( le , la, les , un , c’est , sur , je , mais , avec , plus)

Craft : we will make crafts (paint , collage , drawings mixed media ) according to our themes .

Students will be sent home with a text to read or engage with for next class .

No class on Sept 30 (Chantal planned absence)
